When you choose to use SEPTA, our goal is to provide you with the most pleasant travel experience possible every time you ride. But we also make a commitment to provide a safe riding experience and environment for you, your family, and our employees.
Environmental, Health and Safety professionals, and other authority employees, work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep a watchful eye over the entire SEPTA system. Whether you’re taking a bus, trolley, or train, we want to ensure that your ride and your travel experience is a safe one.
Having a comprehensive safety plan and program is only part of our effort. We work very hard to communicate this message to customers, neighbors who live near our operations, and anyone who walks or drives a vehicle in and around our service region. That’s why you may have seen members of our System Safety team or SEPTA Ambassadors at your station or transit stop handing out information, or you may have participated in one of our Operation Lifesaver programs.
Some of the information may be simple — common-sense advice for being safe and staying safe — but one of our tips could someday end up saving your life or the life of someone close to you.
System Safety is dedicated to adherence and application of an adaptive Safety Management System (SMS), engineering methods, best practices, industry standards, and superior service to ensure safety for all employees, customers, and community. System Safety continues to grow by learning, working to improve safety culture initiatives, and building confidence for all stakeholders of our transit agency to optimize the authority’s Safety Awareness and Environmental Protection Policy.
To ensure safe workplace practices for employees, safe transportation for customers, and adherence to best safety standards/practices for the betterment of the Authority.
