COVID-19 SEPTA information

The national COVID website offers resources and guidance on masking, vaccines, treatments, travel guidelines, and more in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Philadelphia’s Department of Public Health has local information.

SEPTA Operational Status

The Route 91 bus service to Graterford and Norristown Transportation Center remains suspended.

Other services are in operation. See the Live View for up-to-date information.

The Accessible Travel Center in Suburban Station is closed to walk-ins. CCT Paratransit assessments and travel training at the center are by appointment only.

SEPTA has resumed the Bike & Ride policy in place before the beginning of the pandemic. See the policy for details.

Select concourse stairways and access points to Market-Frankford and Broad Street Line stations are closed until further notice.

This includes the 13th & Market entrances, and Broad Street Line headhouses between South Penn Square and Walnut Street.

The 15th & Market, North Filbert Street, and Broad & Locust entrances remain open. Please look for signs directing customers to alternate stairways.

Fares are unaffected by COVID-related operational changes. See the current fare information.

The Market Street doors in the Reading Headhouse are open for entrance/exit to Jefferson Station from 6:30 am-6:30 pm weekdays.

These doors are closed at all other times. When they are locked, use the 10th & Filbert entrance to Jefferson Station, which is open daily during the service hours.

The doors at 12th & Filbert are open from 6:30–9:30 am and 3:30-6:30 pm weekdays only.

Daily and monthly permit parking fees at all station surface lots and parking garage facilities remain free through December 31, 2022.

SEPTA has also temporarily suspended the requirement that customers purchase a Parking Permit each month to maintain their eligibility. Persons eligible as of April 2020 will remain eligible.

Parking fees at station facilities operated by Non-SEPTA entities, including the City of Philadelphia lots at Fox Chase, Ryers, and Torresdale Stations, remain in effect. Customers will be subject to $25 parking tickets and other fines at these non-SEPTA facilities.

Access to SEPTA Headquarters at 1234 Market Street is restricted to only those individuals with assigned workspace in these facilities. Hiring and training activities are being performed on a limited basis by appointment.

Fare and Pass Processing

The SEPTA Key Senior & Reduced Fare Card processing centers on the Concourse Level of 1234 Market Street, are open by appointment only.

Tours

Facility tours have been suspended.

Meetings

Meetings of the SEPTA Board and committees, as well as those of advisory groups, have moved to an online format. Check the calendar for upcoming meetings.

See sales office locations and hours for the nine Regional Rail and Transit sales office locationss.

The following entrances are open Monday-Friday from 6:30-9:30 am and 3:30-6:30 pm:

  • 17th & JFK (Stairs and Elevator)
  • 15th & Market
  • 16th & JFK

All other entrances are closed until further notice.

Limits on the number of riders allowed on SEPTA vehicles have been lifted as vaccinations have become widely available. Watch for new announcements in case the status changes.

Regional Rail Tickets

The following Regional Rail station ticket offices, including waiting room and restrooms, are closed until further notice:

  • Moylan Rose Valley
  • St. Martin

Masking Policy

While customers are no longer required to wear masks on SEPTA vehicles or in SEPTA stations, employees will continue to wear them.

Use a SEPTA Key card for contactless fare payment.

Riders are encouraged to get vaccinations and boosters, maintain social distancing, and follow good hygiene practices such as washing their hands frequently and covering their faces when they cough or sneeze.

SEPTA Facts

  • SEPTA vehicles are well ventilated. Air changes occur on every vehicle every two to three minutes, adhering to CDC recommendations.
  • SEPTA has upgraded to high-efficiency cabin air filters on vehicles. Filters are changed on a regular basis in accordance with vehicle system testing and reliability recommendations.
  • SEPTA cleans vehicles daily. Additionally, vehicles receive an intense detailed heavy cleaning every 10 days.
