Ampliación del horario de la Tienda de tránsito de SEPTA

Edición limitad de calendario con vehículos decorados para las fiestas por $10; Horario de la tienda ampliado esta y próxima semana para las compras navideñas

SEPTA’s popular Holiday Decorated Vehicles can now be enjoyed year-round, with a new limited-edition calendar on sale at the Transit Gift Store. The store has extended hours for holiday shopping this week and next.

The Transit Gift Store is normally open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. SEPTA is adding Tuesdays, Dec. 14 and 21, and also extending hours until 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, to accommodate holiday shopping. A hot item this year is the first-ever «Holiday Vehicle Competition» calendar, which features photos of decorated buses and trolleys in recent years.

«We are excited to offer this first-ever Holiday Vehicle Competition calendar for sale at the SEPTA Transit Gift Store,» said SEPTA CEO and General Manager Leslie S. Richards. «Our employees put so much effort and creativity into the vehicle competition, and this is a great way to share the holiday spirit with our riders.»

A total of 2,000 calendars were printed, and funds raised from sales will go back to employee participants to recoup the cost of decorations and props purchased for the vehicles.

The calendars are $10 each and available at the Transit Store located in the lobby at 1234 Market Street in Center City.

Background: SEPTA trolley operator Gary Mason, a 35-year veteran of SEPTA who works out of SEPTA’s Callowhill District, has been decorating his trolley for more than a decade, inspiring other SEPTA employees to do the same with their buses and trolleys.

Decorating vehicles became so popular with fellow employees and the community, that an annual tradition to compete against other employees from different Districts began. SEPTA’s frontline staff which includes transportation and maintenance employees at various districts work as a team to transform a transit vehicle into a spectacular holiday vision. The competition has evolved over the years to become the Authority’s largest internal and external event and this year two of the holiday buses were featured in the first-ever Visit Philly Holiday Parade.
