New SEPTA Regional Rail Line Schedules Go Into Effect Sunday, April 10

Following up on the December 2015 schedule changes to improve service reliability, SEPTA is embarking on a second round of schedule changes. The changes are planned to improve weekend on-time performance and reliability system-wide.

The new SEPTA Regional Rail Line schedules will go into effect on Sunday, April 10. These timetable changes will focus on adjustments to weekend service. Schedules are available for download at https://www.septa.org/.

The following reflect changes to weekend train service.

Airport Line

Saturday and Sunday Airport Line trains will operate continued through service to and from Chestnut Hill East and Warminster Lines. Airport Line trains will no longer make stops at West Trenton Line stations.

Hourly direct service to Airport Terminals will be provided at Jenkintown-Wyncote, Elkins Park, Melrose Park and Fern Rock Transportation Center (with the exception of AM trains #499, #403, and #407). Additional service has been added to Elkins Park and Melrose Park to facilitate Center City transfer to Airport trains.

Chestnut Hill East

Trains previously designated as Saturday only or Sunday only will now operate on both days.

All inbound Saturday and Sunday trains will operate 13 minutes earlier than previously scheduled with the exception of Trains #7409 and #7413 which will operate 10 minutes later.

All outbound Saturday and Sunday trains will operate 10 minutes earlier with the exception of Train #738 which will depart from Suburban Station at its regularly scheduled time of 11:51 pm

Lansdale/Doylestown Line

All Saturday and Sunday trains will operate 13 minutes earlier with the exception of the first two trains #5305 and #5307 which will operate 15 minutes earlier.

Media/Elwyn

Trains previously designated at Saturday or Sunday will now operate on both days.

All Saturday and Sunday trains will operate at new times. Customers should refer to timetables with the April 10, 2016 effective date for specific train service information.

A new weekend early morning Train #306 will depart from Elwyn Station at 5:46 am

Customers will also have three new late night options on weekends for service to Elwyn Station.

Media/Elwyn continued: Trains traveling inbound towards Center City will operate continued through service to Doylestown Station with the exception of train #306 which will operate through service to West Trenton.

Paoli/Thorndale Line

Most Saturday and Sunday train departure times from stations will be earlier. Specific departure times are located at www.septa.org. All trains will serve Malvern Station.

All trains traveling inbound towards Center City will provide continued through service to West Trenton.

West Trenton Line

Saturday and Sunday trains will no longer make stops at University City Station. Customers traveling to University City Station can transfer to an Airport, Media/Elwyn or Wilmington/Newark Line train at Jefferson or Suburban Station to complete their trips.

All inbound trains traveling towards Center City will operate ten minutes later and will provide continued through service to Malvern Station along the authority’s Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line.

Most trains traveling outbound towards West Trenton will operate five minutes later.

The following reflect changes to weekday service.

Glenside Combined

Some weekday trains’ continued through service destinations will change. Customers should check the schedule for specific train destinations.

Wilmington/Newark

Weekday Train #2760 which departs from Newark Station at 4:46 pm will now operate express service to Center City with continuing through service to Chestnut Hill East.

Train #9294, which departs from Newark Station at 5:46 pm, will operate express service to Center City.

Schedules on all Regional Rail Lines will change beginning Sunday, April 10. Customers should check https://www.septa.org/schedules/rail/index.html, or look for signage posted at stations for additional service and boarding information. Android and iPhone app users can receive the latest version of the Regional Rail schedules by updating the SEPTA App. To update the iPhone app, users should tap “Settings” and then “Update” to get the new schedules. The iPhone app updates will be available on April 10. Riders using the SEPTA app for Android devices should visit the Google Play Store for updated schedules.
