SEPTA One-Day Regional Rail Papal Visit Pass In-Person Sales Start Friday, Aug. 21

SEPTA One-Day Regional Rail Papal Visit Pass In-Person Sales Start Friday, Aug. 21

Rail Stations Will Provide Closest Travel Access To Papal Visit Venues

SEPTA’s online lottery offered opportunities for individuals across the globe to purchase Regional Rail passes for the Papal Visit. Requests were received from as far away as France and Great Britain, as well as from most states throughout the U.S., including Hawaii.

Now, SEPTA is offering additional opportunities for customers to purchase One Day Regional Rail Passes for the Papal Visit — with in-person sales that will kick-off this Friday, Aug. 21. The sales are aimed at giving individuals, businesses, groups, employees and others a chance to purchase the passes, which are limited in quantity and will be required for Regional Rail travel during the Papal Visit on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27.

The One Day Regional Rail Passes for the Papal Visit are $10 each. Individuals can purchase up to 10 passes for each day, while quantities last. Groups and organizations interested in bulk sales can email SEPTA at papalbulkpasses@septa.org.

SEPTA is more than doubling capacity on Regional Rail during the Papal Visit to accommodate increased ridership demand. Service will be available to Center City from 18 outlying stations, which will allow SEPTA to run express-type inbound service every half-hour in the morning to the events. Due to road closures, SEPTA will provide the closest access to the Papal Visit event venues for most people who will be travelling to the Center City area. Outbound-only service will express back to the same outlying stations in the evening.

In-person sales offer customers the convenience of buying passes at or near the outlying stations that will be open during the Papal Visit. Beginning Friday, Aug. 21, purchases can be made during normal ticket office hours at most of the 18 outlying stations. In addition, passes will be available for purchase in Center City at Jefferson and Suburban Stations. Sales will continue at the posted business times at these stations until Thursday, Sept. 24, or until passes are sold out. Please visit www.septa.org/papalvisitphilly for ticket office hours.

SEPTA is also offering a special opportunity for customers to purchase One Day Regional Rail Papal Visit Passes at the outlying stations this upcoming Saturday and Sunday. Please visit www.septa.org/papalvisitphilly for details regarding these special weekend hours.

Those who plan to use Regional Rail for Papal Visit travel are encouraged to be dropped off at one of the open outlying stations. SEPTA is working with local officials, businesses and other organizations to offer additional parking at or near these stations. Details on these parking options will be made available once plans are finalized.
