SEPTA is helping runners get a head start on this year’s Blue Cross Broad Street Run, Sunday, May 1, 2022, with free rides for registered runners. SEPTA will also run extra service on the Broad Street Line subway to accommodate the event and is alerting customers to bus detours that will be in place.

Free rides for registered runners are available before and after the race. Participants must display their 2022 official race bib with their competitor number to ride for free.

Bus Detours

SEPTA customers using buses that operate on or near the race course are urged to plan ahead for these service adjustments by checking detour information online. Riders should also allow for extra time to complete their trips.

SEPTA is encouraging customers to check https://www.septa.org/systemstatus as dozens of bus routes operating on, across and around Broad Street in parts of North Philadelphia, Center City and South Philadelphia will be altered due to road closures that will be in place for the race. Detours are expected to start at approximately 7 am on Sunday. The Route 16 will be on detour starting at 4 am SEPTA will resume regular service as soon as possible after the race.

Extra Subway Service

Express service on the Broad Street Line will operate every 10 minutes prior to the race northbound, departing NRG Station beginning at 4:40 a.m. with limited express stops at Walnut, City Hall, Olney and Fern Rock Stations.

Regular southbound service on the Broad Street Line will operate every 10 minutes starting at 4:45 am from Fern Rock Transportation Center.
