SEPTA is inviting riders, residents and stakeholders to learn about the Authority’s Capital Program during two open house sessions on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
The open house sessions, which will focus on the development of the Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Budget and 12-Year Capital Program, will include two sessions, from noon to 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the SEPTA Board Room on the mezzanine level at SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market Street. SEPTA officials will also provide a progress update on work related to the “Rebuilding the System” Capital Program. Presentations will start at 12:30 p.m. during the first session, and 5 p.m. during the second session.
SEPTA embarked on its “Rebuilding the System” plan following the November 2013 passage of Act 89, the state’s comprehensive solution for transportation capital funding. SEPTA has launched a number of projects to catch up on its $5 billion backlog of critical capital projects, such as bridge replacements, station improvements, power substation overhauls and new vehicle purchases. Public comments on the development of the Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Budget and 12-Year Capital Program can be given during the open house, or submitted in writing. SEPTA will hold public hearings on the capital budget and program plan in April, after the proposal is drafted.
