A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by SEPTA General Manager Joseph Casey, Pennsylvania State Representative Joshua D. Shapiro, and local government and community leaders at Crestmont (R2) Regional Rail station.

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Abington, Montgomery County, Crestmont Station serves as a vital link for riders traveling north to Warminster, Bucks County, or south to Center City Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport.

“As we continue to make service improvements systemwide, SEPTA has not lost sight of how important our smaller stations and transit hubs are to the communities they serve”, said SEPTA General Manager Joseph Casey. “We believe everyone will be quite pleased with the improvements we have made here.”

SEPTA replaced the deteriorating wooden shelter of the structure located on the old Reading New Hope Branch and completely rebuilt Crestmont Station in only three months. The building now sports a new glass enclosed passenger shelter, new platforms and walkways, signage, lighting, and a new paved and striped ADA compliant parking lot on the outbound side.

“SEPTA was willing to work with us, to help us, to elevate our community,” said Shapiro. “Thank you SEPTA for your outstanding leadership.”

The approximately $425,000 Crestmont Station Revitalization Project broke ground in early September and was constructed with state Infrastructure, Safety & Renewal Program (ISRP) funds using a team of SEPTA in-house construction and maintenance workers.
