Seniors Ride Free Program

Appointments are strongly encouraged to obtain and renew SEPTA Senior Fare Cards. Appointments may be made by phone or online. Walk-ins are not guaranteed same-day service.

Senior Citizens (65 years old or older) travel free on all SEPTA transit routes (bus, trolley, trackless trolley, and Market-Frankford, Broad Street, and Norristown High Speed Lines). They also ride for free on Regional Rail as long as their departure and arrival stations are located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

For stations to or from New Jersey or Delaware, the cost is 50 percent of the weekday fare with a valid form of identification to verify age. Currently there are two forms of Senior ID accepted to ride SEPTA:

  • SEPTA Key Senior Fare Card (photo ID)
  • Valid PA Driver’s License/Non-Driver ID

Licenses/Non-Driver ID issued after July 2017 cannot be tapped at the Validator or swiped through the Farebox or Turnstile reader and are not valid for travel.
