Phase II of SEPTA’s three phase improvement project to rebuild the mainline infrastructure on its Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line between 30th Street and Arsenal Interlocking will take place on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3. During construction, shuttle buses will operate in place of train service along the entire Airport Line. Shuttle bus operations will also be in effect between 30th Street and University City Stations which will impact the Manayunk/Norristown, Media/Elwyn, Warminster, West Trenton and Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail Lines.
Schedules and service information will be posted at SEPTA Regional Rail Stations prior to the start of construction. Train and shuttle bus departure times will be different from regularly scheduled train times. Customers should visit www.septa.org/arsenal or look for signage posted at stations for updated information as additional weekends of construction might be required.
A summary of Phase II service adjustments is as follows:
Shuttle buses will replace all trains between 30th Street Station and Airport Terminals A-F. Airport Line shuttle buses will not service University City Station. Customers should transfer at 30th Street Station for service to University City Station.
All trains will depart later than regularly scheduled.
Inbound and outbound trains will only operate between Elwyn and 49th Street Stations. Shuttle buses will operate in place of all weekend train service between 49th Street and 30th Street Stations. All inbound trains traveling toward Center City will depart earlier than regularly scheduled. Inbound customers traveling to 30th Street or to points beyond will need to transfer to shuttle buses at 49th Street Station for travel to 30th Street Station and connections towards Center City. Outbound customers traveling toward Elwyn will board shuttle buses at 30th Street Station. After departing from 30th Street Station, the buses will travel to 49th Street Station where customers will transfer to Media/Elwyn trains for continued travel towards Elwyn. Customers should note that outbound trains will depart later than regularly scheduled.
All trains will operate on the current schedule to 30th Street Station. Customers continuing to the Philadelphia Airport will need to transfer from trains to ‘Airport Line shuttle buses’ at 30th Street Station.
West Trenton Line
All trains will operate on the current schedule to 30th Street Station. Customers continuing to the Media/Elwyn Line will need to transfer from trains to the Media/Elwyn Line shuttle buses at 30th Street Station.
All trains will depart later than times noted on the special Wilmington/Newark Line Emergency Schedule. Wilmington/Newark Line trains will board from the lower level at 30th Street Station. There will be no train service to/from University City Station, however, shuttle buses will provide service between 30th Street and University City Stations.
