SEPTA Service Ready For Annual Bike Philly Event This Weekend

On Sunday, September 13, SEPTA is geared to take cycling enthusiasts to the starting line of the third annual Bike Philly event in front of the Art Museum. Thousands of cyclists are expected to line up and pedal 10, 20, 35 and 50 mile courses through the historic neighborhoods of Philadelphia and Fairmount Park from 8 am until 2 pm

SEPTA is the best way to get to the Bike Philly tour which promotes healthy lifestyles and a better environment through alternate transportation.

The following SEPTA Regional Rail line trains will operate with extra early morning cars departing for Center City for the event:

  • Train #2107 departing Warminster (R2) at 5:41 am
  • Train # 2703 departing Chestnut Hill East (R7) at 6:11 am
  • Train #2522 departing Malvern (R5) at 6:30 am
  • Train #4109 departing West Trenton (R3) at 5:58 a.m.

Participants can easily bike to the Ben Franklin Parkway and the Art Museum from 30th Street Station.

In addition, all SEPTA buses are equipped with bike racks mounted on the front of vehicles while off-peak and weekend Broad Street and Market-Frankford Line trains can also accommodate riders with bicycles.

SEPTA continues to improve its stations and terminals to provide better accessibility for riders with bikes. Riders will find free hitching – post bicycle racks available at many stations. Passengers should be advised that bikes are to be properly secured only in these designated locations.
