SEPTA To Hold Annual Service Plan Hearings May 9 & 10

Proposals Include Two New Bus Routes & Other Service Changes

SEPTA is inviting riders and other residents to public hearings regarding the Fiscal Year 2018 Annual Service Plan. Hearings will be held Tuesday, May 9 and Wednesday, May 10.

The proposed service plan includes two new city bus Routes – the Route 49, which would connect Brewerytown and Fairmount to Grays Ferry and University City, and the launch of Roosevelt Boulevard District Bus service. There would also be changes to bus Route 132 which services areas in northern Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

The hearings will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at noon and 5 pm in the Board Room at SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market Street, Philadelphia and on Wednesday, May 10 at 2 pm at the Souderton Municipal Building, 31 West Summit Street, Souderton, Pa. The SEPTA Board is expected to vote on the plan at an upcoming meeting.

Highlights of the proposed FY 2018 Annual Service Plan include:

  • New Bus Route 49: Establish a new north-south bus route, which would operate from Brewerytown and Fairmount to Grays Ferry and University City. It would provide an important connection from nearby neighborhoods to the growing employment base and create a direct transit option between 30th Street Station and the attractions located along the Ben Franklin Parkway
  • Roosevelt Boulevard Direct Bus: New limited-stop service along Roosevelt Boulevard with some elements of Bus Rapid Transit. Buses would operate from Frankford Transportation Center to Neshaminy Mall, making only eight stops in each direction.
  • Route 132: This proposal would provide service to a retail and health service corridor in Hilltown Township. As part of the project, SEPTA would work with local and state officials in an effort to improve access from the new routing to the adjacent businesses.
